December Birthdays and How to Treat Them

How did it get so late so soon?

It’s night before it’s afternoon.

December is here before it’s June.

My goodness how the time has flewn.

How did it get so late so soon?

– Dr. Seuss

Having a birthday in December can be pretty bitter-sweet.

I do not have a birthday in December, however my mother does. In fact, it is her birthday today that inspired this post. Sometimes it can be quite frustrating sharing a birthday month with Jesus. Your birthday always comes second (maybe even third after New Year’s Eve).

If you know someone who celebrates their birthday in December, remember these five things:

  1. Don’t use the “this is your birthday and Christmas present” line.
  2. Do something that is not holiday related.
  3. Don’t wrap their gifts in Christmas wrapping.
  4. Stick to birthday cakes, not fruit cakes.
  5. Decorate the party venue with streamers and balloons, not tinsel and mistletoe.

Of course, this does not apply to everybody as I would love to have a Christmas-themed birthday.

Happy birthday to my wonderfully amazing mother!

Do you know anyone who celebrates their birthday in December? What do you do for them?
