LUSH Scrubee Body Butter

If you follow LUSH, you would know that Scrubee is the latest craze. This bumblebee has made it to the top of pretty much everyone’s favourite-list, including mine! LUSH came out with this body butter about a month ago as part of their limited edition Mother’s Day range, along with a few other products.

Scrubee is an incredibly adorable bee-shaped body butter with alternating exfoliating and moisturizing stripes, making it more than just a body butter (it’s a scrub too!). Ground Almonds and ground Coconut Shell make up the exfoliating portion of this product, while Honey, Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter make up the moisturizing portion. Other ingredients include Coconut Oil, Bergamot Oil and Brazilian Orange Oil. All together, it is R125 for this 100g bee.

LUSH Scrubee Body Butter

When I first used Scrubee, I went to town with it and covered my entire body. I felt pretty strange afterwards (not bad, just really moisturized in the most wasteful way) because I clearly used way too much and, since then, I only use it on my arms and areas where my skin is dry. The ground coconut shells and almonds gently exfoliate the skin while the body butter melts away against your body heat. You’ll be left with a layer of body butter and lots of little coconut-almond pieces that you will need to rinse off, leaving only a thin layer of product on your skin. I usually pat myself dry afterwards because I don’t want to wipe away all of the product.

The exfoliating portion of Scrubee is made up of three thick strips with the ground almond being slightly larger than the ground coconut shell. Together, they do a really good job and exfoliating my skin. As I said, Scrubee simultaneously exfoliates and moisturizes your skin, so if you are only looking for a good exfoliation without the added moisturizing, this product might be a bit of a problem (especially if you avoid comedogenic products, such as coconut oil, like the plague). The thin layer that is left over on my skin is neither oily nor sticky, it simply leaves my skin feeling soft and exfoliated, which is one of the main reasons why I am so in love with Scrubee. I absolutely despise anything that makes my clothes stick to me or makes me feel like I am sweating!

This product is also 100% value for money. Unlike other body butters, Scrubee does not melt away after one or two uses. So far, it’s surpassed five uses and it’s still going strong!

I’ve saved the best for last: the scent. You see, I originally wasn’t going to buy Scrubee. An employee at LUSH Canal Walk demonstrated its use on my arm and I was sniffing my arm for hours. That’s when I hopped online the following day and had one delivered to my home (50 points to LUSH for the personalized messages). I can’t actually describe the scent, only that my mom and I are absolutely obsessed. It’s like honey and orange with a touch of chocolate (hallelujah!) and it is quite frankly the best-smelling body product I have ever owned. The scent lingers on my skin for a good few hours.

Scrubee is hands down my favourite product from LUSH. What’s even better is that, due to everyone going cray over it, Scrubee is now part of LUSH’s permanent range of products! I don’t know about you, but I am so ready to splurge on more of these the minute they hit the store.

Were you lucky enough to get your hands on Scrubee?
