Why hello, reader, and happy new year!
I am so excited that it is the start of a brand new year! 2016 was a toughie, to say the least, but I am more than ready to let it go, let it go…
For the past four days I have been working, registering to an ODL university, celebrating/preparing for birthdays and organising my life. This year I will be working part-time, studying full-time for a science degree, and living my life to the absolute fullest! I have already planned quite a few blog posts for this month that I am extremely excited and nervous about (here’s a goal: get rid of my fear of failing), so you can keep up with everything by subscribing or following me on social media.
It’s hard to make resolutions as I always forget about them, so I’ve just compiled a list of 17 things that I would like to do this year without the added pressure.
Get my driver’s license
I am absolutely petrified of driving a car. My problem is that I always tend to accelerate when I get nervous, and I really don’t want to die yet (ironically, I have been riding a scooter for three years already), but I am quite aware of the fact that it is just a fear that I need to face. Am I the only person afraid of driving a car???
Improve my photography skills
It has become quite clear that beautiful pictures are what makes a blog so attention-grabbing. Therefore, I have no choice but to improve my lame photography “skills“. I also want to jump on that flat lay band wagon…
Learn how to use YouTube and iMovie
If photography and videography were singing, I would be tone-deaf. I have no experience whatsoever, so I would like to change that.
Pay off any debt
Debt is like having an annoying itch in your brain and I absolutely loathe it. Luckily, I currently don’t have a large amount of debt, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.
Read way more books
I love reading so much, but I haven’t been reading for the longest time! It’s time to get back into the swing of things. What are you currently reading?
I really want to try my absolute best this year. I won’t be attending any physical classes, so this year I need to be disciplined and responsible if I want to do well.
Social media is so, so important when it comes to promoting your blog. Not only that, it is an awesome opportunity to meet like-minded people (something that I lack in my life).
Go to new places
I really want to travel around the world, but that might have to wait a while. I’m okay with that though because I haven’t even seen all of my city, so I am going to put a lot more effort into embracing what is right in front of me.
Remove negativity from my life and social media
I do believe that a huge weight will be lifted off of my shoulders if I just remove everything negative from my life. I always say, negativity attracts negativity.
Collaborate with bloggers
There are quite a few bloggers (and vloggers) in South Africa that I really like. The potential friendships that could bloom are unbelievable, so I am going to stop waiting around and just go for it!
Use 100% cruelty-free beauty products only
I have always used what I thought were cruelty free beauty products. However, just recently I discovered that, although brands claim to be cruelty-free, they knowingly and willingly allow their products to be tested on animals in countries where this is required by law. In other words, if Revlon sells their products in China (which they do, by the way), they are aware of the fact that animals will be tested on. These brands are NOT cruelty-free AT ALL. Cruelty-Free Kitty has a list of 100% cruelty-free brands that we can refer to, and it is constantly updated.
Redecorate my bedroom
A pretty bedroom is always a mood lifter! I believe that my productivity increases in an appealing environment.
Publish good quality posts
I am going to put a lot of effort into my future posts (without being too much of a perfectionist, I suppose).
Get my passport
This is going towards my long term goal of, one day, traveling the world. I really, really want to visit Japan in the near future!
Improve my health
I hate exercising so much, but I know that there are some fun ways to keep fit. I am going to try my best, but more importantly I am going to eat better too!
Life can be such a rush sometimes. I often forget to just stop and breathe. Inviting calmness into your life is so important.
Develop a night routine
My morning routine is always sorted, but I have never had a proper night routine. I will be getting some ideas from YouTube, as I love watching night routine videos! What is your night routine?
