Blogmas: Week One

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas;

Soon the bells will start,

And the thing that will make them ring

Is the carol that you sing

Right within your heart.

– Meredith Willson

This week ended up being a lot more exciting than what I expected it to be. Let’s start from the beginning…

Some time last week I was sent a seriously cool little tool from Beauty Bulletin: the BaByliss Twist Secret. I was shocked that I got picked to review it and it was the first free item that I had ever received since starting my blog back in August. It may seem silly, but it sure gave me a confidence boost. I wrote my review and posted a few pictures on Beauty Bulletin (here) and, of course, on my blog (here).

The new Lindt shop opened in Canal Walk. Now, you should know that Lindt chocolate is my favourite and that I basically knocked my boyfriend over as I ran into the shop. Running in, right in front of my face was the pick n mix that dreams are made of. It featured a whole lot of different Lindor chocolates in different flavours! That day they had a 20% off sale. We must have bought 500g of chocolate (judging from the price). I snapped some photos of the chocolates using #LindtSweetOutSunday and, for the first time ever, I actually WON their competition! Lindt Christmas hamper, I’m waiting for you…

I went on a shopping trip to China Town (don’t judge) and bought boxes (and boxes) of the most amazing red, gold and silver Christmas baubles and tinsel. I wanted to go into December with a beautiful Christmas tree and my house as festive as I could make it! I popped on the kettle to make a little Gingerbread Latte in my new Christmas mug from Woolworths, switched to the Holiday Favourites channel on DSTV and there I went, disappearing into my favourite little festive world. My tree looks amazing, if I do say so myself.

My boyfriend and I went to the cinema to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 3D. I was very excited about this because it is related to the Harry Potter series, which I am obsessed with! However, I must admit that I was very skeptical because of JK Rowling’s new script-writing-thing. I had very mixed feelings about Cursed Child, and I was so disappointed to see that Fantastic Beasts is in the form of a script too. Anyway, the fact that this magical world is back makes me ecstatic.

Hearing that Crumbs and Cream is now in Canal Walk for two months made me extremely happy! The second that I could, I raced to Canal Walk. I chose an Oreo cookie, a rainbow cookie and the Ferrero Rocher ice cream. I would highly recommend this combination- it worked. If I wasn’t diabetic before, this will be the turning point (Kaylyn, control yourself).

I figured  out how to connect my bank account to PayPal, meaning that I can now pay for things priced in Dollars. Of course, the first thing I did was treat myself to a beautiful pipdig theme! Pipdig’s customer service is out of this world! Within 24 hours my entire blog changed. I have been having fun playing with all of the options that are now available to me, so don’t be surprised if you come back tomorrow and something has changed!

Attempting blogmas made me very nervous because I didn’t think that I would have time. I tried to prepare as early as possible though, and so far I’ve managed to get four posts up. Having blogmas and vlogmas around makes things extra festive. Last year, at this time, I thought that I was the only person who still loved Christmas. Now, I get to share this love with other people who love it too!

Here are the last few blogmas posts:

01/12: Hello December: A 25-days-of-December bucket list.

02/12: Festive Mimosas: Drinks that are perfect for the most wonderful time of the year.

03/12: Love From Santa: A shoebox from none other than Santa for a special little girl.

Are you doing blogmas? Give me the link, I would love to read it! (Also, have you read my 25 Ideas for Blogmas post?)

What did you do this week?
